Virtual. While cognitive decline can be a feature of aging, emerging science is revealing the role of nutrition in preserving cognitive health and preventing some of the top neurological conditions such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s diseases. In this virtual series, Plant Powered Metro New York will feature leading physicians, researchers, and health coaches to explore the remarkable connection between what we eat and the vitality and resilience of our brains. Offering practical learning and lifestyle tips in the kitchen and the grocery store, Nourish Your Mind will empower you to optimize your well-being and quality of life.

In our second session, Dean Ornish, MD, in conversation with Lianna Levine Reisner from Plant Powered Metro New York, shares findings from his new study on Alzheimer’s disease, diet, and lifestyle. Known for his pioneering work in Lifestyle Medicine as the creator of the Ornish Lifestyle Heart Trial, Dr. Ornish will explain practical, research-backed strategies to prevent dementia and Alzheimer’s disease, and to slow their progression. Followed by audience Q&A.

Presenter: Dean Ornish, MD

Dr. Dean Ornish and his colleagues are conducting the first randomized controlled trial to determine if the progression of early stage Alzheimer’s disease may be slowed, stopped, or perhaps even reversed by a comprehensive lifestyle medicine program, without drugs, devices, or surgery.

Presented in partnership with Plant Powered Metro New York, the Michael J. Fox Foundation, Riverdale Senior Services, JASA and the Lewy Body Dementia Resource Center.
