Our experienced and licensed massage therapists combine the skill of caring touch with a variety of massage techniques to help you manage stress and pain and gain mobility. Every session is uniquely tailored to you, the client, to promote a healthy body and mind and leave you feeling renewed.

The JCC on the Upper West Side offers a variety of massage modalities, including Swedish, Thai, prenatal, sports, medical, and more.

Swedish

Swedish Massage

Our signature massage uses long flowing strokes to promote general health, relaxation, and well-being. Perfect for “first-timers.”

 

Deep Tissue Massage

Deep Tissue

Designed to relieve severe tension in deep muscles and connective tissue or fascia in focused areas.

 

Medical / Clinical

Medical Massage

Uses a combination of techniques to help chronic pain related to medical conditions.

 

Cancer Support Massage

Receive supportive, holistic bodywork, employing massage techniques suitable for individuals undergoing treatment or for those who are post-treatment and/or post-surgery. Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 10 am–2 pm.

Please understand the specific nature of this program. We are responsible for utilizing our limited time to best serve patients. If you are unable to make your scheduled appointment, please let us know as soon as possible so that we have the opportunity to rebook the time.

A cancellation fee will be charged, for any cancellation unless such cancellation is due to a medical emergency, or you are having COVID-19-related symptoms. Please let us know of any health issues immediately. Documentation will be required. Cancellation Fees: JCC Members ($55), and General Public ($65)

 

Prenatal and Postnatal

Prenatal Massage

Massage geared specifically to the needs of moms to be and new moms. Helps reduce edema and muscle spasms, improve circulation, posture, and sleep, and ease stress and anxiety.

 

Massage for Older Adults

The JCC Health Club now offers massages for older adults using a special table that safely lowers you for easy access. This modified massage can decrease incidence of injuries, increase flexibility, provide pain relief, and improve circulation. Our techniques are suitable for individuals undergoing treatment or are post-treatment/surgery. Seniors 62+ years receive a 10% discount on all massages!

 

Myofascial Release

Myofascial Release is a safe and very effective hands-on technique that involves applying gentle sustained pressure into the Myofascial connective tissue restrictions to eliminate pain and restore motion.

 

Craniosacral Therapy (CST)

A gentle approach that releases tensions deep in the body by applying light touch to the skull, face, spine, and pelvis.

 

Sports Massage

Also known as manual therapy, manipulative therapy, or manual and manipulative therapy, this is a physical treatment primarily used on the neuromusculoskeletal system to treat pain and disability. It most commonly includes kneading and manipulation of muscles, joint mobilization, and joint manipulation.

 

Shiatsu (指圧)

Shiatsu (shi meaning finger and atsu meaning pressure) is a type of alternative medicine consisting of the fingers and palm pressure, stretches, and other massage techniques. There is no convincing data available to suggest that Shiatsu is an effective treatment for any medical condition.

Our Therapists

Dee Granger

Monday and Wednesday 10-3 pm

Dee is dedicated to helping clients achieve physical and mental well-being. Specializing in Swedish massage, deep tissue massage, and myofascial release, she combines a deep understanding of the body’s mechanics with a personalized approach to every session. Her philosophy is centered on creating a calming and rejuvenating experience, while addressing each client’s specific needs, whether it’s relieving stress, alleviating chronic pain, or enhancing mobility. Dee’s goal is to empower her clients to feel their best through the healing power of a tranquil touch.

Dominique Bousquet

Tuesday 10-2 pm and Thursday 10-2 pm

Dominique is the Clinical Director of Oncology Massage at JCC Manhattan’s Cancer Care Massage Program. Dominique studied at the Swedish Institute and became a New York State Licensed Massage Therapist in 2008. Her work integrates Swedish massage, Craniosacral Therapy, myofascial release, active release technique, Reiki, and Reflexology, in which she holds a National Board Certification. She also has extensive training in oncology massage, including Massage for the Cancer Patient level I and II through Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, and Hospital-Based Massage Therapy for Seriously Ill Patients through Mount Sinai’s Hertzberg Palliative Care Institute.

Dominique has extensive experience as a senior massage therapist at the Dubin Breast Center and at the Tisch Cancer Institute at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City as well as her private work specializing in safe massage for people diagnosed with cancer during all phases of treatment, including survivor-ship and end of life.

A member of the Society For Oncology Massage, the American Massage Therapy Association, and the International Association of Healthcare Practitioners.

She firmly believes life is a mystery to be present to, explore, learn to trust, and enjoy. She does not see a human being as a machine. Therefore, does not consider herself a fixer but rather a mystery walking companion. Dominique uses her knowledge and abilities to create the best possible conditions to bring about healing. She approaches her work with respect and compassion.

Doreen Ashley

Tuesdays 3-8 pm

Doreen worked as a computer graphic artist for 16 years, but as the world changed, her desire to do something more organic and personal became more important. A graduate of the Swedish Institute, she believes the client’s body will tell us what it needs to heal. “As a massage therapist, if we are willing to listen and respect the body’s wisdom, we can act as facilitator of healing and well-being. Each client is different and deserves an individualized massage session that speaks to their needs.” While working with a client, Doreen creates a safe and relaxed atmosphere where she can begin the task of healing the body with modalities such as Swedish Massage, Deep Tissue Manipulation, Range of Motion (ROM), Trigger Point, and Stretching.

Douglas Chu

Available Sundays 9 am-2 pm

Douglas is a graduate of the Swedish Institute andhas been in the massage field for over 10 years. He has worked at gyms and fitness clubs and in hotels including the Waldorf Astoria, Trump Soho, and the Cornelia Spa at the Surrey Hotel. His massage is a combination of deep tissue, Swedish, passive-stretching, and pressure points. Douglas tends to attract clientele looking for a sports/medical massage experience. Of course, each massage is customized to the client’s specific needs. His massage education is ongoing basis even before it became a mandatory NYS law. He has completed courses in Abdomen Massage, Sports Massage, Oncology Massage, Medical Massage, Myofascial Release, Craniosacral, Ortho-Bionomy, BodyTalk, and Reiki.

Ericka Clinton

Tuesdays, Thursdays + Fridays, 10 am-2 pm

Ericka Clinton is a NY State Licensed Massage Therapist. She obtained her license in 1998 after earning a Massage Therapy Diploma from the Swedish Institute. She has been a faculty member and administrator at the Swedish Institute College of Health Sciences in New York City since 2000 and currently serves as the Dean for the Massage Therapy Program. She has taught practical classes in both Western and Eastern modalities and supervised clinical internships and externships.

Ericka maintains a private practice as a massage therapist, and has worked as a massage therapist for NY Presbyterian Medical Center’s Integrative Medicine Program and from 2011-2013 worked at the Bendheim Integrative Medicine Center run by Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. She currently serves as the President for the Board of Directors for the Society for Oncology Massage.

She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesthetic Neuroscience in 2015 from Empire State College, and has continued studying various forms of structural and myofascial bodywork. She currently teaches a variety of continuing education courses for Massage Therapists in NY and outside the US. Her courses cover various topics such as oncology massage, Shiatsu, medical massage, anatomy and working with special populations.

Gerardo Gomez

Available Wednesdays 5-9 pm

A graduate from the Swedish Institute College of Health Sciences with a specialty in Swedish, Deep Tissue, Myofascial Release and Relaxation. Gerardo believes in listening to the body and letting it guide each individualized session, ensuring attention is given to where it’s needed.

Hector Sosa

Available Mondays 10 am-3 pm, Thursdays 3-8 pm, and Fridays 10 am-3 pm

Hector is a highly skilled, enthusiastic massage therapist with over a decade of experience practicing massage. Since graduating from the prestigious Swedish Institute, he has worked in many high-end spas throughout New York City. Hector maintains excellent knowledge of anatomy and physiology, and is well versed in massage modalities such as Swedish, Deep Tissue, Medical, Trigger Point work, Myofascial Release, and Sports massage. He is attentive to his clients’ needs and develops personalized treatments for them to optimize their health and well-being.

Donna Joseph

Tuesdays 3-8 pm

Certification: Modalities include: Swedish, Deep Tissue, Sports Massage, Recovery Massage, Facilitated Stretching</em

A massage therapist for the last six years, Donna’s intention for giving massage has always been to effect change in the body. She wants to help encourage range of motion and flexibility. Donna Looks to reduce joint pain and any aches from repetitive body movement and to lower stress by inducing calm with deep relaxation massage.

Donna’s other work involves investigative research. She uses her skills here when a client presents with an unfamiliar issue such as tight hip and psoas, investigate, plan, practice and proceed.

Her goal is to give the best body work session you have ever had to get you back on your personal path.

Loretta Samuels

Available every other Sunday 2-7 pm

Loretta is a graduate of the Swedish Institute and has been massaging for almost 20 years. She has worked at the JCC since 2007. Her massage background incorporates Swedish, Shiatsu, Prenatal and Postnatal, and some training in Craniosacral and Reflexology. Upon her graduation from the Swedish Institute, she worked at several hotels and day spas providing massage and body treatments, including hot stone, body scrubs, and body wraps. Loretta tailors each massage experience to address her clients’ areas of concerns by customizing her strokes.

Joelle Evans

Mondays 4-9 pm and Saturdays 9-2 pm

Joelle has always had an interest in helping to heal the whole body. In her work as the Health and Wellness Program Manager here at the JCC her desire to have a more hands on approach grew. After graduating from the Swedish Institute College of Health Sciences she has been working as a massage therapist with a specialty in Swedish, Deep Tissue, Myofascial Release and Shiatsu. Joelle believes in allowing the body to guide the individualized session towards healing and relaxation ensuring that everyone gets the right attention where it is most needed.
