Donate New and Gently Used Items

The JCC works in close partnership with local schools and nonprofits to meet community needs. As part of this effort, we periodically collect items like books, clothing, and personal hygiene items for distribution to individuals in our community. You’ll find a list of current and upcoming drives below:

Community Recycling Day | Sun, Apr 21, 10 am–2 pm

Give new life to old possessions. Not only will you clear your home of unneeded items, but you'll also embody the Jewish value of bal tashchit, a call to not destroy needlessly.

Stations will be set up on the sidewalk outside of the JCC (334 Amsterdam Ave @ 76th St.) where you can recycle:

  • E-waste with the Lower East Side Ecology Center (for a list of acceptable items, click here).
  • Gently used spring and summer clothing for distribution to new immigrants
  • Suitcases (in working condition) to be used by unhoused families moving to new shelters
  • Unusable and out-of-season clothing and textiles with Green Tree Textile Recycling.

Cosponsored by the Office of New York City Council Member Gale A. Brewer and B'nai Jeshurun.
