The Edmond J. Safra Parkinson's Wellness Program

This groundbreaking program was founded in 2007 to help improve the lives of those impacted by Parkinson's. Through education, exercise, support groups, and other programs, and in collaboration with the medical and local communities, people impacted by Parkinson's remain active, connected, and empowered. With a primary focus on dignity, hope, and possibility, this program has grown into a welcoming hub for the New York City Parkinson's community. The Edmond J Safra National Parkinson's Wellness Initiative has been adapted nationally in partnership with the Parkinson's Foundation and is supported by New York’s largest health care provider, Northwell Health, which includes a renowned Parkinson’s program founded on patient- and family-centered care.

Join us for the launch of a new virtual series on Sun, Sep 26 offering education, entertainment, and awareness to those living and thriving with Parkinson's Disease. Award-winning journalist Lesley Stahl co-hosts this very first Broadway’s Best for Parkinson’s program, along with Dr. Alessandro DiRocco, director of the movement disorders program at Northwell Health, and Caroline Kohles, JCC senior director of Health and Wellness. Joining the conversation will be entertainer Suzanne Vega, whose mother Pat lives with Parkinson's, and Broadway, film, and television actor Chris Jones, who has lived with PD for 19 years. Ian Feurtado will also present Drums for Parkinson's (a joint offering with the Friedberg JCC).

This program is made possible by a community grant from the Parkinson’s Foundation. It is endorsed by Northwell Health and is part of the Edmond J Safra wellness program at the Marlene Meyerson JCC Manhattan.
