In Person. This café is a complementary space to The Memory Project . As a respite service, our Memory Café offers support for individuals managing early memory loss. Led by professionals in music, movement, conversation, and art, our facilitated sessions foster connections through engaging activities. Caregivers can rely on it as a safe drop-off center for their loved ones while they attend to errands or self-care. Family members are always welcome to participate at the café and join us for meaningful experiences and support.

Noon - Games and conversation

1 pm session led by Linda Cholodenko or Roger Puckett
Linda was a professional dancer/singer/actress who worked on Broadway and Off-Broadway and in many other theatrical venues. For the last 10 years, she has been bringing the arts to those living with memory loss. Through her experience as a caregiver, she has created many types of workshops that engage, stimulate, and bring joy to this community. Linda is certified as a TimeSlips teacher and has extensive training in Dance Movement Therapy.  She facilitates workshops for Lincoln Center Moments, Alzheimer’s Foundation of America, 305 West End Assisted Living, Renewal Memory Partners, The Bristal, and others.

Roger Puckett has danced in Broadway shows choreographed by the great Bob Fosse, Jack Cole, and Jerome Robbins. He teaches Nia Dance and Jazz it Up dance classes at the JCC. He and his wife, Yvonne Puckett, have created a Moving To Heal class called Young At Heart, which they teach at senior community centers throughout New York City.

2 pm - Snacks and conversation

3 pm session led by Independent Art Therapists or The Creative Center
The Creative Center art workshop program will serve participants experiencing mild to moderate memory loss and their dedicated caregivers. Artmaking sessions will create a safe and engaging space where participants will be able to discover new methods of self-expression and communication, experience support in managing emotions, and form meaningful connections with others.
