The Koopersmith Family Literacy + Math Program
Become A Tutor, Change a Life
Over the past 25 years, The Koopersmith Family Literacy + Math Program at the JCC has trained hundreds of volunteers of all ages (14+) to help public school students who perform below grade level. Interested in changing a life? We accept new volunteers throughout the school year and summer. Join us to demonstrate your commitment to reducing learning loss and closing the opportunity gap among New York City's school children.
For the past two years, we have offered one-on-one tutoring virtually. While we will continue tutoring our current students on Zoom, we have resumed our on-site programs at our Upper West Side partner schools for the 2022–2023 school year.
Virtual tutoring: Registration for virtual tutoring is no longer available for the 2022-2023 school year.
In-person tutoring during the school day: Click here for the in-person tutoring registration form. New volunteers are always welcome and one-hour orientation sessions for new tutors are held throughout the year.
Generous support for JCC literacy and math programs is provided, in part, by The Louis and Anne Abrons Foundation, Inc., The Gural Family Foundation, The Taft Foundation, and individual donors.
