It is customary to visit the graves of parents and other loved ones before the High Holidays, but many New Yorkers are unable to get to the cemetery easily. Thanks to Plaza Jewish Community Chapel, we are pleased to offer you a comfortable ride to visit loved ones buried nearby, accompanied by JCC clergy. Join us at Plaza Jewish Community Chapel (630 Amsterdam Ave) at 9 am for bagels and coffee before cars depart at 9:30 am.
Please note:
- participants must choose one day, one cemetery, and one gravesite to visit
- a representative from the JCC will reach out to each participant by July 15th the latest to assist in locating their loved ones’ plots
- each car seats 6 participants, plus a clergy person and the driver
the car will take you directly to the gravesite - this program will occur rain or shine
- cars will depart from and return to Plaza Jewish Community Chapel
we suggest leaving your schedule open until 4 pm, although we often return earlier, pending traffic
feel free to bring a snack and a light lunch - Registration is first-come first-serve. Space is limited, and we are unable to reserve spots.
This year's visits will take place on Tuesday, September 24 (Long Island + Queens) and Wednesday, September 25 (New Jersey). We will be visiting the following cemeteries:
Long Island: Beth Moses, Wellwood, New Montefiore, and Mt. Ararat
Queens: Beth David/Montefiore, Mount Hebron, Mt. Lebanon, Mt Zion
