In Person. This performance of  Witness Theater is the culmination of eight months of heartfelt collaboration between Holocaust survivors and a diverse population of high school students from the NYC area. On stage, the survivors narrate while students reenact their wartime experiences. This collective performance honors, shares, and celebrates the extraordinary survivors and their stories, while highlighting the life-changing lessons they have shared with the students.

The performance will be followed by a Q + A with members of the performance and creative team.

Witness Theater was conceived by Irit Dagan and Ezra Dagan and developed by JDC-Eshel in Israel. It was brought to New York in 2012 by Selfhelp Community Services, Inc. This year’s Witness Theater program is a collaboration between Selfhelp Community Services, Inc., UJA-Federation of New York, and the Marlene Meyerson JCC Manhattan. The program also receives generous support from Carol and Carl Hess, the Miriam and Arthur Diamond Charitable Trust, and the Anderman Family. We also thank the Conference on Jewish Material Claims Against Germany (Claims Conference) who funds Selfhelp’s services for Holocaust survivors.

Witness Theater will be performed twice (May 8 + 9). The program will be the same on both nights.
