Become A Tutor, Change a Life

The Marlene Meyerson JCC Manhattan's literacy and math tutoring programs have a lasting impact on our community. Join our team, made up of over 400 volunteers each year!

Click here for our school-year registration form.

JCC teachers train and supervise an ever-expanding corps of over 400 volunteers, ages 14+, dedicated to making a difference for hundreds of schoolchildren in our community. We pair our volunteer tutors with students in Grades K-12 who are at risk for reading or math failure. Programs include School Day Academic Intervention Support, including Lunchtime Reading & Math Buddies for elementary school students and NYS Regents Exam and English Language Support for high school students who are new immigrants to the U.S.; Supervised Afterschool Academic Tutoring for Elementary and Middle School Students; Evening and Weekend Reading/Math Support and Homework Help for students living in shelters.

Demonstrate your commitment to the education of New York City’s children by becoming a literacy or math volunteer. New volunteers are welcome year-round.

For more information or to volunteer, please email Tiaisha Tirado, coordinator of literacy + math programs, or call 646.505.5748

Generous support for JCC literacy and math programs is provided, in part, by The Louis and Anne Abrons Foundation, Inc., The New-Land Foundation, The Taft Foundation, the New York State Office of Child and Family Services, Not 4gotten NY and individual donors.

Help us continue to ensure accessible programming for everyone. Please support Literacy + Math programs at the Marlene Meyerson JCC Manhattan.
