Broadway's Best for Parkinson's—Caregiving: Beyond the Obvious

Join us for the launch of a new virtual series offering education, entertainment, and awareness to those living and thriving with Parkinson's Disease. Award-winning journalist Lesley Stahl co-hosts this very first Broadway’s Best for Parkinson’s program, along with Dr. Alessandro DiRocco, director of the movement disorders program at Northwell Health, and Caroline Kohles, JCC senior director of Health and Wellness.

This episode, "Caregiving Beyond the Obvious', will look at the challenges of being a caregiver—depression, lack of resources, and the need for coping skills. We will also tackle concerns such as "What if I pass away first?"— as well as how to handle frustration, abuse, and a decline in empathy. Joining the conversation will be entertainer Suzanne Vega, whose mother Pat lives with Parkinson's, and Broadway, film, and television actor Chris Jones, who has lived with PD for 19 years. Ian Feurtado will also present Drums for Parkinson's (a joint offering with the Friedberg JCC).

This program is made possible by a community grant from the Parkinson’s Foundation. It is endorsed by Northwell Health and is part of the Edmond J Safra wellness program at the Marlene Meyerson JCC Manhattan
