2s Together FAQ

How will classes look different?
Class sizes will be smaller, with a maximum of 11 children per group. Each class will still have three teachers.

What safety procedures can I expect when entering the building?
Everyone will fill out a health screening before arriving. 2s Together classes will also enter the building through a dedicated entrance.

How will social distancing work?
According to NYC Department of Health guidelines, preschool-aged children are not expected or required to maintain social distance from other children or from adults within their own pod. As an additional precaution, the number of children in each play area will be limited, and available seats at tables will be distanced.

What sanitizing procedures will be implemented?
Classrooms will be sanitized daily. High-touch materials will be sanitized or removed after use. Soft toys and pillows will be removed from the space. Sensory materials such as play dough will no longer be shared, and only given for individual use.

Will the children need to wear masks?
Children and teachers will be expected to wear masks at all times.

Will the classes spend time outdoors?
Yes, weather permitting the groups will spend a portion of the class time on our rooftop playground each day.

How will the separation process work?
Gentle separation is an essential component of 2s Together. We are planning for a phase-in process that will safely establish trust with teachers and comfort with new routines before children are asked to enter the JCC building or separate. The processes we are planning for include 1:1 classroom visits with teachers before the program begins and an outdoor class meet-up for the first session.

What if someone in our class gets sick?
If a child or teacher is sick with a typical illness or has a fever, he or she must be fever-free and display no symptoms for 24 hours before returning to class. Depending on the circumstances, a COVID-19 test may also be required.

If a child, teacher, or family member of someone within a class is diagnosed with COVID-19, the group will be temporarily suspended in person and transition to an online format for a minimum of ten days or until it is deemed safe to return.

What will happen if the program needs to close?
Limited closures of a classroom or the program will be supported with short-term bridges of virtual programming. In the case of a significant delay to the program or an extended closure that cannot be made up through changes to the calendar, we will adjust the pricing accordingly.

Help us continue to ensure accessible programming for everyone. Please support Children + Family programming at the Marlene Meyerson JCC Manhattan.
